In 1980 a group of parents who had children with disabilities came together. They realized that after high school graduation virtually all involvement outside of the home would come to a screeching halt. There would be little, if any, opportunity for social or sports activities. It was from his realization that the Merrimack Friars were formed It is now proud to have 70 members.The Friars is a parent led organization. It is entirely run by volunteers with out any renumeration. The goal of the group is to provide social and sports activities for its membersThe group runs at least one social event each month from September thru June. And the members participate in Special Olympics of New Hampshire events on a local, State wide, National and International basis. We sponsor at least on social event each month from September thru June. Members and family are invited to attend all social functions. Some functions are free while others require a fee. Financial assistance is available for members who are unable to afford the fees.
